Husband of Mildred Edith McDaniel Hastings whom he married on March 19 1921, Wilmington, Delaware.

Father of Ruth and Leon Hastings.

Served with the U.S. Army in the 312th Infantry, 78th Division during World War I. His unit fought at Argonne, Grand Pre, Citadel, and Bois des Loges.

He founded the Diamond State Machine Works in Wilmington, De.

Serveral years after World War II he found out that through a Government contract that his machine shop had actually made part for the Atomic Bomb that was used. He was noted as not being happy about that news.
