Donald B. Deardorff, 87, son of Bert & Amy (Bankert) Deardorff, was born February 23, 1921 in Yale, Iowa. He passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at The New Homestead, Guthrie Center, Iowa. He was the 5th of 8 children. He grew up and went to school in Yale. On October 7, 1944, he married Corrine Smith of Bagley. To this union two children were born, Dianne & Gene. They farmed west of Yale until 2001. They bought a home & moved into Yale in 2001. He became a resident of The New Homestead in Guthrie Center in 2004. He served on the Yale Co-op Elevator Board for 25 years. He served on the school board when Y-J-B was formed, serving from 1961-1971. He was very active member of the Yale Community Club for many years. He was a PROUD Grandfather of Gene & Marilyn's children, Ryan & Teri. He enjoyed every minute he spent with them. He is survived by his wife; Corrine of Yale, children; Dianne & Jerry Nash and Gene & Marilyn Deardorff. Grandchildren; Ryan & Teri. Sisters; Gladys Rice, Doris Thompson, and Ramona Glade. Brother; Glen Deardorff. Many well loved nieces & nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Isabel and brothers Ross & Bill.
