Jonathan Douglass was born in Georgia, January 7, 1799 and came to Texas sometime between May 2, 1835 and March 2, 1836. He is shown as one of the men in Captain Peyton R. Splane's company who were detailed to guard the baggage opposite Harrisburg, during the Battle of San Jacinto , April 21, 1836. Jonathan served along side his brother Freeman W. Douglass.

His widow, Mrs. Nancy Douglass, was born July 23, 1793 and died February 9, 1860. The two are buried in marked graves in Riverside cemetery, Seguin.
