Mrs. Balunas was born in Watertown on March 30, 1907, daughter of the late James and Martha (Gourly) Maxwell. She was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1925. She was the proprietor of The Salt Box Gift Shop. She opened the shop in 1947 and ran it continuously until 2002. She also worked at the Jigger Shop at Taft School for many years.
She was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Oakville and the Waterbury Women's Club, and was a past member of Christ Episcopal Church in Watertown.
Mrs. Balunas leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon Maxwell and Harold Maxwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon, September 22 at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, North Street, Watertown.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
