Hi Millie
Could you kindly add the bio below for Patience Tate? Many thanks!

The facts which can be determined from the records on Patience Tate are few. Primary is the application for her husband's Civil War pension in 1892, revealing that his name was Other "Oten" Tate and that she was already living in Oklahoma.

The gravestone of Patience Tate, which can be viewed at okcemeteries.net, says that she died at the age of 96, making her born in 1814, probably in Alabama. Her known children are Anderson Tate, Patsy Tate, Joanna Tate, and Julia Tate. Another child was Patricia Young.

Other "Oten" Tate was born about 1808, in Alabama or Maryland, and died in 1891, probably in Mississippi. He served with Company B of the 64th Regiment of the U.S. Colored Infantry. He was discharged at Vicksburg in January of 1865 for a "disability."

The Tates' daughter Julia, born in Alabama in 1861 married Alfred A. Evans, who homesteaded in Lincoln County, proving his claim in 1903 ( SE¼ of sec 35, 016N - 002E ).
The 1900 census shows him as head of the household that included Patience Tate. The last census showing Julia and Alfred is 1920. Alfred, who was 71 in that year, probably died in the Dudley area, but nothing is known of his grave.
