Amy Ruth Phelps, 23, a lifelong resident of Franklin, was called home to live with her Lord June 12, 2002. A 1997 graduate of Southampton High School and a 2000 graduate of Longwood College, Amy was a graphic designer with Mark-Trece in Richmond. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Known for her big heart and friendly smile, she will be greatly missed by her loving family and many cherished friends.

Amy is survived by her parents, Rod and Tricia Allen Phelps of Franklin; her brother, Ben Phelps of Smithfield; paternal grandparents, C.J. and Ruth Phelps of Franklin; maternal grandparents, Albert and Alice Allen of Walters, Va.; two uncles, Larry Allen of South Carolina and Jerry Allen and wife Gail of Smithfield. Amy was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Myrtle Allen.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins, the Rev. Charles Chappell and the Rev. Steve Bradshaw. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorials in Amy's name may be made to the Longwood College Foundation, Re: Art Department, 201 High St., Farmville, VA 23909.
