Mrs. Charles Hess, who had been ill for tour weeks, died at the home ot her,daughter, Mrs. Clarence Pregler 1000 Dodge Street. Saturday morning at 2:20 o'clock.
The funeral will be held Monday morning from the Pregler home at 8 o'clock to St. Francis church at Dyersville at 9: 30 o'clock. Burial will be made in St. Francis cemetery.
Mrs. Hess, the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Schmitt, pioneers of this county. was born tn Holy Cross Oct. 15, 69 years ago, and was married in Luxemburg Jan 10.1877. She had always resided in this county, making her home in Dubuque for the past three years. She Is survived by her husband, Charles Hess, nine daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Offermann, Remsen, Ia.. Mrs. Henry Origer, Wlttemore, IA. Mrs. John Hermes, Dubuque, Mrs. William Toomer, Delhi, la., Mrs. Joseph Marold, Dyersville, Mrs. Clarence Pregler, Dubuque, Mrs. Joseph Comour, Sutherland, la., Mrs. Pearl Grey, Galena, Mrs. Carroll Moore, Cascade; two sons, Frank, Glen Haven, and Anton, Bernard, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers, Anton Schmitt, Wittemore, la., Frank, Farley, and Theodore, Holy Cross.
She was a devout Catholic and attended the Cathedral. She was affiliated wIth the Rosary society.
