MONONA - Lloyd L. Ochalla, age 74, died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at St. Marys Care Center. He was born on March 3, 1929, in Madison, the son of Leo and Mildred (Hoops) Ochalla. Lloyd graduated from Madison East High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952 and received the Korean service medal with one bronze star. Lloyd married Joan Karls on May 7, 1955, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He worked as a machinist for the UW-Madison physics and chemistry departments for 34 years, retiring in 1994. Lloyd was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and VFW Post No. 7591. He is survived by his wife, Joan of Monona; his children, Linda Hagberg (fiance Bill Brockman) of Brooklyn, Keith (Lorraine) Ochalla of Sun Praire, Kurt (JoAnne) Ochalla of Boston, Mass., and Rhonda (Joel) Landaal of Waupun; grandchildren, Zandra Hagberg, Trenton and Alyssa Landaal, and Justin and Julia Ochalla; great-grandchildren, Joniece, Michael, Cashauna and Jazarah Hagberg; and a sister, Corrine Hoppmann of Phoenix, Ariz. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Vickie, in 1965. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield Street, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, with Father John Meinholz and Father Bruce Hennington presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
