Roy A. Moss, 79, of 1205 Anna St., Benton, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday in Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion, after a long illness.
Mr. Moss, a life time resident of Franklin County, was born June 23, 1894 to Robert and Cora Page Moss.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post No 280 in Benton. He was also a member of the East Benton Baptist Church.
Mr. Moss worked in the county treasurer and county clerk's offices in Benton for many years and he was also a school teacher in Benton.
He is survived by his wife, the former Faye Bird; a daughter, Mrs. George Enchus ; a son, Robert ; five brothers, J.R. Moss and H.E. Moss , Chester Moss , John D. Moss and Garland Moss ; three sisters, Mary Chaplain and Allie Hargrove, and Eileen Rogers ; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A sister, Sarah, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2p.m. Sunday in the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton. The Rev. Clinton R. Woodfin will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral Home.
