Crosby people were grieved to learn the death of Mrs. Jacob S. Berg, of this city, which occurred at the Trinity hospital, Minot, on Sunday, June 30th, during an operation.

Mrs. Berg had been ill for some time and a few weeks ago, went to Minot, to a stomach specialist, for treatment. She improved considerably and returned to her home here. Three days later she had another bad spell and about a week prior to her death again went to Minot. She had another bad attack the morning of her death, and it was decided to operate. After the incision had been made, it was found that she was suffering from a cancer of the liver, and she passed away on the operating table.

The remains were shipped to Crosby and funeral services were held from Concordia Lutheran church of this city on Wednesday afternoon, and burial was made in the cemetery southeast of Crosby. Rev. Chr. Hoversten, of Ambrose, who had been the family pastor for several years, conducted the services.

Ingeborg Elnes, a daughter of Andreas and Marit Elnes, was born at Franen Per Molde, in Norway on the 16th day of January, 1877 and at the time of her death was past 52 years of age. She grew to womanhood in the land of her birth and on April 7th, 1901, was united in marriage to Jacob S. Berg in the Myhrbostads church, at Franen. Two years later, in 1903, they came to the United States and settled at Flaxton, this state, where they resided about two years, when they returned to Norway for a visit. On their return, they settled in Rolette, this state, where they lived until 1908 when they made another trip to the homeland. In the spring of 1909, they went to Lethbridge, Alta., and the same fall filed on a homestead near Mt. Green, Sask., thirty miles northwest of Crosby, on which they took up their residence the following spring, and where they resided until moving to Crosby in September, 1926.

Mrs. Berg was a good Christian woman, a kind and loving wife and mother and had always been a staunch and true worker in the Lutheran church and her demise is deeply regretted by a very large circle of friends.

Besides her husband, she is also survived by seven children, Stanley, Marvin and Juel, who reside on the homestead near Mt. Green, Sask., Thelma, Emily, Oscar and Mabel, all of whom reside at the home here.

Four sisters also survive, being Mrs. Gure Rosetremmen, Mrs. Ole Julseth, Mrs. S. Hostmark and Martha Elnes, all of whom reside in their home community of Franen, Norway.

Out of town friends who were here to attend the funeral, were Ed. Sather and family, P. Hjort and family, Mrs. Mary Robinson, A. Robinson and wife, M. Robinson and wife, K. Knudson and family, R. Johnson and family, G. Gare and family, Mrs. McBride, P. Bakke and family, Olaf, Einer, Margit and Anne Haugland and Axel Feit, all old friends and neighbors from the Mt. Green community.

The Journal joins with the many friends of the grief stricken relatives in offering sympathy to them in their great sorrow.
