BRIGHAM CITY IMPRESSIVE OBSEQUIES OVER THE REMAINS OF THE HONORED PATRIARCH, PETER FORSGREN.
Brigham City, March 4 - The funeral services of Patriarch Peter Forsgren, held yesterday afternoon in the Tabernacle here, were beautiful and impressive, and were very largely attended, the building being filled with friends and relatives who gathered from far and near to pay respect to the memory of one of God's noblemen. Beautiful music was rendered by the choir and soloists, among the latter was Thomas Ashworth of Salt Lake City, who sang "O My Father."
The speakers who eulogized the life and worth of the deceased were Prest. Anthon H. Lund, Elders J.M. Sjodahl and Andrew Jensen of Salt Lake City, Prest. Oleen N. Stohl and Oluf Peterson, and others. Impressiveness was added to the occasion by members of the High Priests Quorum, who preceded the hearse in the procession from the home and later from the tabernacle to the cemetery.
Father Forsgren was one of the first settlers of Brigham City and was ever true to the cause of truth under every vicissitude. He was a man of great industry and patience. About the first work he did when he came to Brigham was to go to the mountains and get out timber to make a weaving loom, the only tools he had being a hatchet and drawing knife, with which he finished the loom. This loom he used for 50 years or more, and it is still in commission, and valued now as a family relic."
