Harry Dobson, 78, of Pine Bush NY, died on September 7, 2008 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus, Middletown, NY.
The son of Horace Dobson and Marion McGrath he was born on November 6, 1929 in New York City.
He was a self-employed Tile and Marble Contractor.
Mr. Dobson was a Navy veteran who proudly served during the Korean conflict. Harry was a 31-year member of the Newburgh Yacht Club and member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church. He was a gifted artist since his teenage years. Harry had a passion for travel and enjoyed many excursions with his wife Joan who he married in 1951 in the Bronx. Of all of his past times, his favorite was being with his grandchildren. They brought much pride and joy to this "Poppy". They will miss his generosity of time, talent and love as will all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan at home; two sons, Robert of Middletown and Ronald and his wife, Diane Burns-Dopson of Bloomingburg; his daughter, Nancy Brohan and her husband, Tim of Bullville; seven wonderful grandchildren: Jessica, Stephanie, Michael, Ryan, Shaun, Scott and Kelly and cousins, Marion, Harold and Gerry McGrath.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Robin Hogle will officiate. Burial will take place in the family plot in Hopewell Cemetery, Thompson Ridge, NY.
