"LOVED WOMAN CALLED TO REST"

"With Little Warning, Mrs. Jas. W. Dvorsky, While Away on Visit, Answers Summons"

Mrs. James W. Dvorsky's sudden death at Spirit Lake, Iowa - the cruel climax of a happy visit - shocked and grieved her many friends in Iowa City, when the news was received here.

She was stricken down during Wednesday, Nov. 1, following an early morning note to her husband at home here - a missive that brought no suggestion of the approaching illness. That afternoon came the dangerous attack, and Mr. Dvorsky was summoned Thursday.

He left that night for Spirit Lake, but she became unconscious before he arrived, and remained so to the end, which came at one o'clock, Friday morning, following his coming to the Ehret home.

It was there that Mrs. Dvorsky, desiring to see her daughter, son-in-law and new grandson, had gone Monday, Sept. 23, for a visit of a week or 10 days. There, she was stricken, as the happy little outing was about to come to an end, in a normal way.

She had been in poor health, a victim of diabetes, a number of years, and recent developments, forecast the dangerous complications, but not until a few hours before the fatal attack.

The remains will be brought hither tonight, and the interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery, tomorrow following services at the Dvorsky home, 509 Brown Street, at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Rev. F. S. Nichols will officiate.

Mrs. Dvorsky was 59 years of age, last Monday, Oct. 30.

She was born abroad, and came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Plevka, when a child. She had resided here during the past half-century.

Surviving are her husband, the longtime secretary of the Iowa City Commercial Club; three daughters and one son. The children are Alice (Mrs. J. C. Bane) of Iowa City; Lillian Frances (Mrs. James E. Ehret, wife of a prominent light and power manufacturer of Spirit Lake, and alumnus of the Iowa University College of Applied Science, Class of 1912, and herself an alumna of the College of Liberal Arts, Class 1908); and Anna, recently instructor in Music at Carthage College and Drake University, now doing special work in music in Chicago); and Paul, of Los Angeles, Cal.

Mrs. Dvorsky was an honorary member of the Royal Neighbors and the C.S.P.S., and a member of the Sewing Circle in her neighborhood. On the very day that she wrote her last words to her husband, she dropped a note to Mrs. Frank Spevacek, stating that she would entertain that Circle at its next meeting - dreaming not that the assemblage of the little sorority of busy workers would be one with deepest grief, ruling supreme, instead of joyousness.

Mrs. Dvorsky was a true friend, and a loving devoted wife and mother. To the heart-heavy kinsfolk a large number of friends will extend sincere sympathy.
