Born in Burden, she moved to Albany in 1958 and came here in 1973. She was a graduate of Coffeyville Teacher College in Kansas and worked for the Portland Oregonian while living in Albany. She was active in Gold Star Mothers and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband, William, died three weeks ago.
Surviving are her sons, William Las Vegas, Robert. Corvallis, Bryan, Atlanta, and Patrick, McMinnville; daughters, Peggy J. Morse and Penny G. Hamill, both of McMinnville; and brother, George Whitney, Albany.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Waverly Memorial Cemetery, Albany, under the direction of Macy & Son mortuary here.
