Born to Roger McGowan and Sarah Flynn of Ballymote, County Sligo, Ireland about 1929, Eliza married Mike McNally of County Down, Ireland on 10 Sep 1854 in Lynchburg, Virginia [FHL microfilm 32268]. They lived in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1860 and were the parents of Jane, Stephen and James A McNally. In 1870, she was in Memphis, Tennessee with her son Stephen and daughter Mary Ellen McNally. On 20 May 1873 she married "Illion" [aka E. A.] Maury at St Peters Church in Memphis [FHL microfilm 2031179]. She and her husband lived in Fort Worth in 1880 with Emmett Maury, Mary Ellen, and R. M. McNally. She is the sister of Jane McGowan Bragassa Jamieson.
Obituary The Gazette, Fort Worth, Texas 6 Sep 1884:
In this city yesterday at 12:30 p.m. of typhoid fever, Mrs. E. A. Maury. Funeral will take place from the family residence at East Third street at 3:30 p.m. to-day. The deceased was well known in Fort Worth, having lived here seven years, and had a host of sincere friends who will regret to learn of her death. She leaves a husband and grown children to mourn for her. The friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral this afternoon.
