William Hanrahan was born May 1, 1857, at Millbury, Worcester, Mass. He departed this life Dec. 18, 1906, aged 49 years, 7 months and 18 days. He was married to Melna C. Hughart August 21, 1877. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter, all of whom, with their mother, are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and a loving father. He was converted to the Christian faith in 1892, from which time he has been a faithful follower, and died in the firm belief which his favorite hymn expresses: "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."He was a model citizen, a kind neighbor and a true friend. Possessed of staunch integrity, he was never known to waver in what he believed to be his duty; ever ready to defend that which was right; conscientious and sincere in all dealings with his fellow-men. His pleasant smile and happy disposition won for him many friends, and his untimely death has left a vacancy in many hearts which can never be filled.
One by one earth's joys are broken,
As we see our loved ones go;
And the hopes we fondly cherished,
Brighten, but to pass away.
One by one our hopes grow brighter,
As we near the shining shore.
For we know across the river,
Waits the loved ones gone before.
