17 March 1857. By 1858 Jordan was sick and unable to support the family. When John
Long enlisted, there were 3 other siblings under 16 years of age at home: James born 17
September 1849 and died 26 July 1870; Nancy, born 22 January 1851; and Ranthan, who
Nancy wrote died in the same service.
