He was Allen to his family and friends, and was the oldest son of Les & Sarah Little Everhart. He has 2 sisters and a brother. Allen was born in Rockingham, NC, but grew up in Wilmington, NC. He attended New Hanover High School where he played the trumpet in the marching band, and was a member of the drama club. He graduated in 1975. He also was a member of the Thalian Hall Thespian Players, and worked with the NC Azalea Festival. In 1977 and 1978 he was in Ohio in the outdoor drama "Tecumseh". When the stage burned down in 1978, he drew blueprints from memory for the construction workers to rebuild the new stage. He spent many years in Florida as a lighting technician for various companies, including Circus World and Disney World. He worked in California on several movies, and in New York City in the theatre district. He free-lanced with various concert artists for their lighting. He was the original lighting designer for the outdoor drama "Worthy is the Lamb" in Swansboro, NC. He was a fan of Star Trek, and made excellent working blueprints of the USS Enterprise, that garner praise even today by Star Trek fans and modelers. In September 1988 he enlisted in the Navy, and in March 1989, was assigned to the USS Iowa. On April 19, 1989, Allen, and 46 fellow crew men, was killed when Gun Turret #2 on the USS Iowa, exploded during training exercises in the Caribbean Sea. He is buried with his grandparents, Harvey Lee and Minnie Lee Everhart, and his uncle, Paul Everhart.
