He was a 22-year-old Pennsylvania blacksmith on Aug. 21, 1862, when he enlisted with Capt. Curry at Wilmington, DE.
He was seriously wounded by a gunshot in the upper right thigh on June 19, 1864, in front of Petersburg.
He was transferred to Tilton U.S. Army General Hospital in Wilmington on September 14, 1865 and finally transferred to the Veterans Reserve Corps on January 28, 1865.
His grave originally was unmarked ... Mr. Tedd Cocker ... was able to order, secure and have installed a Civil War Style headstone for him. ( viewed to the left )
