Margie Belle Blanton, 82, formerly of 602 S. Shelby Street, Blacksburg, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Born in Gaffney, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Bate Blanton and Murphy Bridges Blanton.
She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Cecil’s Business College and retired from Johnson Motor Lines. She was a caregiver for her family for many years and was formerly active with the Eastern Star. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Margie was the source of her family’s personality and wit.
Surviving are two brothers, Bob Blanton and wife, Linda, of Blacksburg and Leeford Blanton of Gaffney; a sister, Madge Lucente and husband, Dick, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hashell Garrick and Shirley Blanton, and three brothers, Arnold Blanton, Hubert Blanton and Lyle Blanton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
