Mrs. Ethel Eugenia Cook (nee Heard), 75, died at the home of her daughter after an illness of several months. She was born on June 3, 1911, in Elyria, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene Heard and May Sumner. She resided in Elyria, Ohio, for the majority of her life. She had resided in Myers Beach, Florida, for several years.

She graduated as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) from Saint Elizabeth Hospital, Washington, D.C., and she had worked in private-duty nursing at Elyria Memorial Hospital, Elyria, Ohio. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Nurses and a member of the Ohio Nurses Association.

Mrs. Cook attended the Church of the Open Door, Elyria, Ohio. She was also a member of Beach United Methodist Church, Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where she served as a mission chairperson.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the First Families of Ohio, and the Ohio Genealogical Society. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

Her husband, Captain Blair A. Cook, died in 1980.

Calling hours and funeral services were held at the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio. The Reverend Rovert N. Schroyer, associate pastor of the Church of the Open Door, Elyria, Ohio, officiated. Burial was in Brookdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions could be made to the American Cancer Society OR to the Campus Crusade for Christ-Jesus Film Office, Arrowhead Springs, San Bernardino, California 92414
