Parents: Griffin Gregory/Cynthia J. Haynes
Born Pendleton District, SC; moved to Georgia. He married Edna Catherine Martin about 1851/1852 probably in Cobb County, GA as this was where the Martin family was living.

Left GA after first child was born, went to Calhoun Co., AL (1860) then on to Lawrence Co., AL (1870) and then on to McLennan Co., TX (1880) and on into HIll Co., TX.

They had 12 children: John Marion, Dialtha (Hale), Loving Griffin, William M., Asa, C. Josie (this daughter chose herself a name-she went by Metallis Antippie -her body is interred at Vaughn Cemetery under the name of Mrs M.A.Vines), Mary Frances "Fannie" (Blackwell), Hiram Harrison, Charles, Huda (McCullough) 2nd marriage (Smith), James William and Hattie Elizabeth (Henson).

Note: Their son, William M., died young and burial place is unknown.
