Son of the late Thomas Hanson and Ida May Silver, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII and earned three battle zone stars. He married Gladys Fern Gritz on November 1, 1946, in Hennessey, OK. He owned and operated Silver Shoe Service in Hennessey from 1945-2000. He was a member of 132 Bible Church, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was chosen grand marshal of the Pat Hennessey Bay parade in 2005. He was survived by his wife; one son, Tom Silver; three daughters, Betty Thele, Rose Shriver and Eva Moore; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. His funeral was held June 7, 2008, at the 132 Bible Church with L.D. Choate officiating.
