She was the daughter of Edward Lewis Baker and Julia Cook Edwards. She married William O'Brien in 1898 in Chicago, Cook, IL. They had a daughter Ruth, born in Chicago.

Word was received yesterday by Mrs. A. S. Edwards, South Eighth street, of the death of Mrs. Julia Baker O'Brien, formerly of this city, which occurred at her home in Chicago at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Death was very sudden.
Mrs. O'Brien was the wife of William O'Brien and was the daughter of Hon. E. L. Baker, formerly editor of the Illinois State Journal and consul general of the united States in Argentine Republic.
She is survived by her husband, a small daughter and two brothers, E. Louis Baker of Kansas City and Willis Baker of South America.
Mrs. O'Brien had not made her home in Springfield for many years, but was known to the older residents of the city.
