Musician. Born Richard William Wright in London, he was a keyboardist and founding member of the British rock band Pink Floyd. Formed in 1965, the group also included Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and later Dave Gilmour. Wright's masterful keyboard and synthesizer playing on such songs as "Arnold Layne", "See Emily Play" and the later classic albums "Dark Side of the Moon" (1973), "Wish You Were Here" (1975), and "The Wall" (1979) helped Pink Floyd become one of the premier Progressive Rock bands in music history. He died from cancer.
