John served as a Private with the Delaware Light Artillery, Nield's Ind. Battery during the Civil War.

Obit:

J. B. KELLEY, who for a number of years had been employed at the New Castle County court house, died very suddenly Satruday night at his home, 2505 Washington street. Death was due to acute indigestion.

Early in the evening Mr. Kelley had complained of feeling ill, but he ate his supper as usual. Immediately after eating his supper he went to his room and threw himself across the bed. He died in a few minutes. A physician who was summoned pronounced acute indigestion as the cause of death.

The deceased was seventy years of age. He is survived by a widow and seven children, five sons and two daughters. The children are John Kelley, James L. Kelley, Dr. Alfred Kelly, Miss Meta S. Kelley, Mrs. William G. Baugh, Harold G. Kelley, and Robert B. Kelley.

The funeral services will be held at his late residence 2505 Washington street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Henry Cunningham, pastor of Eastlake Presbyterian Church, of which Mr. Kelley was a trustee. Interment will be made at Riverview cemetery.
