LOGAN -- A Lesiston woman was fatally injured and her husband and another man were hospitalized Thursday, the result of an accident involving a skidding automobile on the snowcovered highway three miles north of Logan.

Mrs. Valeria Laird Taggart, 64, died in a Logan hospital at 12:45 p.m., about three hours after the automobile driven by her husband had skidded into the path of a northbound vehicle.

James Taggart, 67, of Lewiston, husband of the dead woman was at Budge Memorial Hospital for observation and treatment. He was knocked unconscious and suffered severe bruises.

Con Thueson, 64, of Brigham City, driver of the northbound automobile, also was in Budge Memorial hospital with a fractured rib, fractured knee cap, cuts and bruises.

VARIED INJURIES
Mrs. Taggart suffered a skull fracture, concussion of the brain, broken right hip, fractured left arm, badly injured back and a fractured nose.

Mr. and Mrs. Taggart were on their way to Logan LDS Temple, driving south, when their car suddenly skidded directly into the path of the Thueson car, Sheriff Stowell said.
