Carlton Tabor Woodard entered into eternal rest September 11, 2008 after a valiant 13-year battle with cancer. He returned home to his Heavenly Father peacefully after being continuously surrounded by devoted family and friends.

A lifelong resident of Charleston, Mr. Woodard was the son of Charles Tabor Woodard and Pearl Ermine Porter.

He graduated from Murray Vocational School in 1945 and was a United States Army WWII veteran. As an electrician and contractor, he formed C&J Enterprises, building and investing in real estate. Through hard work and personal sacrifice, a life committed to his family proved that faith and perseverance prevail in all adversity. Mr. Woodard often said, "This is your season. Don't let it pass you by." Although his season was marked by trail, his trust in Christ, conviction, courage, and selflessness left a legacy admired by all who knew and loved him. He was a pillar of strength and was revered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend.

Mr. Woodard was a loyal member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his entire life. Dedicated to serving the Lord, he held many positions at the ward and stake levels. For 10 years, he fulfilled the calling of Scout Master, during which he shared his many skills with the youth, including his three sons.

He was a man of complete devotion to his Savior, family, and fellow man.

He is survived by his adored wife of 58 years, Janet Marilyn Huxford Woodard; sons, Mark Douglas Woodard and wife Vickie and Raymond Joel Woodard; brother, Graydon Ansley Woodard; sisters, Yvonne Woodard Lowther and Carol Woodard Reeder; grandchildren, Lara Yerges, Janette Yerges, Karl Woodard and wife Kasey, Kristin Fellows and husband John, Kari Hardy and husband Garrett, Kimberly Mullenaux and husband HL; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Altrude Woodard Clough; a son, Carlton Terry Woodard; and a daughter, Paula Marie Woodard Yerges.
