Brian James Lancaster, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lancaster, R.R. 1, died at 3 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been ill a short time.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, officials said.
Brian was a third grader at Glenn School, Normal, and a member of the school's Cub Scout Pack 39.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Chapel, with the Rev. Samuel Buck officiating. Burial will be in Lantz Cemetery, Carlock.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born August 4, 1961, in Normal, a son of Willis and Mary Ellen Miller Lancaster.
Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Sandra and Martha; a brother, Alan, all at home; his maternal grandfather, Lloyd Miller, Colfax; and paternal grandparents, Kenneth Lancaster, 438 Standish Dr., and Eva Cook, Gibson City.
