Obituary in The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune, (continuation, page 8)
DR CARPENTER (continued from page 1) (First page of Obit. is missing)
thur Middleton, Dr. J.G. McCutcheon and Robert Clark, of whom only Dr. McCutcheon, editor of the Methodist hymnal, now remains.
But those were the more glamorous and thrilling services he rendered with his voice.
Le't get down to the wholly unselfish deeds of love, when he left his office three times without number, in summer's heat or winter's storms, to give what comfort he could through the service of song at the last rites for a friend, or the friend of a friend.
In this services, given with sympathy and always with feeling, was revealed the true charactor of a man who loved his fellowman.
During all of his life in Indianola, Dr. Carpenter was a member of the Methodist church, most of the time in the official board in some capacity. For seven years he was a member of the Indianola school board. He was one of the charter members of the Indianola Rotary club, in which he remained active so long as his health permitted him to attend.
