Marvie (Hargis) Terrill

Born in Webb City, Missouri on January 12, 1931, Died September 7th 2008 at her home in Carl Junction.

Marvie and her husband Al moved back to Carl Junction, (Marvie's home town), thirty eight years ago. They started a construction business and built the Oak Tree Estates Subdivision in Carl Junction. They then opened Marvie's Drive-In, North Main St. Joplin on January 30, 1988. The girls and grandchildren worked with Marvie and Al at the Drive-In until it closed in 1998. Marvie then went to work at the Holiday Inn in the Banquets department. She worked there until she retired in 2000.

Marvie danced at every opportunity she got and loved listening to music. She spent a lot of time in her yard gardening. She was a member of the Carl Junction Cultivators. She enjoyed shopping. If shopping were an Olympic sport she would have brought home the Gold. Another one of her passions was bowling. She continued bowling with her Aunt Virginia and Uncle Charlie Summers until 2007 when she was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women's Christian Singles. Marvie loved to play cards, dominoes and Chinese checkers with her family and friends. She continued to enjoy beating all comers up until two weeks before her death. She was the happiest when surrounded by her family and friends.
