💗 He was my grandfather. My moms dad.
When he was born, he weighed 13 pounds and it almost killed his mom giving birth to him. He grew up in N.Y. . He meet his wife through a newspaper ad that was like internet dating is today. They wrote and exchanged pictures with each other. He proposed to her by mail. She said yes. They didn't meet til the day they got married in Brattleboro Vermont on Oct. 27, 1923. They had 7 children together. His mother Nettie delivered 4 of them and helped watch the children when the doctor delivered the other 3 children. He worked for the B&O Railroad in N.Y. , Ohio, West VA. and MD. as a telegraph operator. He worked as a person who told the trains where to go on a teletype machine using morse code. My mom said he would often sit and tap out morse code with his fingers when he was'nt working and after he retired, out of habit. He didnt drive a car but drove a moterscooter to work. He also had a honey and candy stand in the summer near the road in front of his house. He also had 2 tattoos. One was a nude girl that danced when he flexed his arm muscle and the other arm had a hart with the word mom in it, in memory of his mom. He didnt believe much in doctors and used natural herbs and vitamins instead. He passed away from a brain aneurysm in his wifes arms. We miss and love him.
