On September 21, 1939 Henry married Marie F. Waller and from this union two daughters were born, Patricia Ann Dimmitt and Jacqueline Lorraine Dimmitt.
He worked at Kroger during World War II, always keeping food on the table during the war years, and he also was an employee at Polar Ice Company as an Iceman, and later at Malleable Iron Casting Company where he worked for 12 years, he lived at 2038 Bellefontaine Street and died of throat cancer at Long Hospital in Indianapolis at the young age of 48 years on June 24, 1963. He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church and was laid to eternal rest at New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Henry was preceeded in death by his father, Henry Clinton Dimmitt Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, mother Edith B. Dimmitt, wife Marie F. (Waller) Dimmitt; daughters Jacqueline L. (Dimmitt) Sears, and Patricia A. (Dimmitt) Ray, three grand-daughters; Shannon L. Ray, Kimberly A. Sears, and Stacey M. Sears, sisters; Lillian Wright, Maxine Wright, Glowdean Jackson, Claudean Arnold, and Florence Waller, brothers Charles Dimmitt, and Clarence Dimmitt, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
