Paul Gerhard Albrecht was born in Bay City, Michigan, on May 12, 1936, to Pastor Gerhard Frank and Margaret Paustian Albrecht. He was received into God's kingdom through baptism on May 31, 1936. Prior to his graduation from Rocky Ledge Country School in rural Tomah, Wisconsin, Paul's father served three other congregations in Michigan and Wisconsin. Paul was confirmed in 1949.

Formal education continued with attendance at Northwestern Prep School and Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin. Paul entered the seminary in 1958 and graduated in 1962. His first assignment was a dual parish in Ellensburg and South Cle Elum, Washington, where he served until 1969. In 1969 Paul accepted the call to begin a new congregation in Renton, Washington, overseeing a growing group of believers there until 1976. That year he accepted a call to Omaha, Nebraska, working in that congregation until 1989. After leaving the ministry for two years, Paul reentered as a pastor in the Missouri Synod and served Centennial congregation in Superior, Nebraska, for seventeen years.

On June 18, 1966, Paul married Carol Kohl at Siloah Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This union was blessed with four children: Michael, Kristie, Kevin, and Kim. Mike and his wife Heather reside in Grafton, Wisconsin, and are the parents of Michaela, James, Jake, and Kate; Kristie, husband Kerry Conner and daughter Chloe live in Rockford, Minnesota. Kevin works in Austin, Texas, and Kim and Josh Droegemueller and daughters Malia and Ayla are from Serbin, Texas.

Through the years of pastoring Centennial, Paul also had the opportunity to serve five other LCMS congregations in the circuit as Vacancy Pastor and served the Nebraska District and Deshler Circuit as Circuit Counselor for many years. He was a past board member of Hope Pregnancy Center, was the current director of the Food Pantry, and was serving a term as Pastoral Counselor for the Nebraska South Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruth, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Harris. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his four children, seven grandchildren, brotherin-law Brian Harris, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Owen and Bonnie Dorn, one niece and seven nephews, as well as other relatives.

The two great loves of Paul's life were his family and his flock, and he lovingly cared for both. In his limited free time he enjoyed golf and fishing. Paul will be remembered for his kindness and caring, his warm smile, his patient wisdom, and his generous heart.

On August 27, 2008, God called his servant home to heaven where Paul now rests with his Lord after a life filled with faithful service.

Funeral services were Monday 10:30 a.m., September 1, 2008 at the Centennial Lutheran Church. Officiants were Rev. Russ Sommerfeld, Rev. Richard Kelm and Vicar James Groleau. Burial was held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.
