A gathering of family and friends of Evelyn F. Kucera Phelps, owner of Capitol Glass Company, was held in Anchorage. Mrs. Phelps died Monday, March 28, at her Anchorage home following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1923, and raised in Deweese, Neb., she briefly taught in a oneroom schoolhouse there. They homesteaded on the Kenai Peninsula and Mrs. Phelps helped her husband start Capitol Glass Company in Anchorage. Since her husband's death in 1970, she has been owner and president of the Capitol Glass Company. She volunteered time to the Alaska Handicapped Children's Program and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce. She was also an active board member of the Alaska Zoo.
