Helen Kathleen "Kathy" (FOSTER) SALTSMAN was my mother.

She was born on January 27, 1929 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon Co., PA. She was the last of four children of Cloyd Franklin FOSTER Sr(1893) and Mabel Mae HALL(1896).

Although her mother insisted on her using her full name "Helen Kathleen," she settled on using just "Kathy" at a young age.

She graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1946, and Juniata College in 1950 where she received a bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. While at Juniata College she was one of two Senior attendants to the May Queen court. After graduation, she taught second grade in Huntingdon for a brief time.

1951
On June 9, 1951, she married Robert D. SALTSMAN Sr(1923) at the Fifteenth Street Methodist Church in Huntingdon, PA. They had four children.

The newlyweds first residence was in southwestern Pennsylvania. Then in the 1953-1956 time period they lived in Dehue, Logan County, W.Va. In about 1957-1961 they lived in Worthington near Columbus, Ohio. From about 1962 to 1976 they lived in Bel Aire Manor near Delmont, Westmoreland Co., Pa., where she taught kindergarten for many years. From 1976 on, she worked in child care centers in Jeannette, Pa.

She was known to her two sister's children as "Aunt Sis."
