He died in Mower US Hospital of wounds recieved in the Battle of Cedar Creek in the War of the Slave Holder's Rebellion (as it says on his tombstone). If he had fought for the Confederacy it would have no doubt said the War of the Northern Aggression.
Enlisted 30 October 1862 as a Private with Company A, 47th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. Cause of Death: Sec'dy Hem from GS Wound recv'd in action.
