The American pianist, teacher, organist and composer, Albert Ross Parsons, came from a musical family. As a music teacher he played organ for Trinity Church and Fifth Avenue Presbyterian. He also taught music at the Metropolitan Conservatory of Music. Parsons was also an Egyptologist who authored the book "The New Light from the Pyramids." The Van Ness-Parsons pyramid is an Egyptian Revival tomb. Outside the tomb is a neo-classical sculpture of Mary with the Christ Child and a sculpture of an adult Christ holding a lamb.
