George Cook - Death of a Pioneer: Born at Monterey, VA in 1826 died at his home on Canoe run, Wed., Aug. 23, 1900, aged 74 years. Moved to Lewis county in 1848, reared a family of twelve children, eight living. Funeral from his late residence on Friday, laid to rest in the Swecker cemetery.

Still trying to find and link up everyone's memorials, but George was the oldest child of John A Cook (1803-1866) and Catharine/Catherine Arbogast. He had 7 siblings and 3 half-siblings from his father's 2nd marriage to Margaret Ann Bird.
