R4D-5 #39090 took off from Mareeba Airfield on a flight to Cairns Airfield then took off again on a flight bound for Momote Airfield on Los Negros Island. The plane never reached Momote Airfield and was declared missing during the war.
The aircraft was discovered in 1970 and had crashed into Mount Scratchley in the vicinity of Mount Victoria.
