OBITUARY

Two weeks ago it was the sad duty of the writer to note a few words concerning the life and death of a husband and father – John F. Bills.

Today it is a son of that father of whom we wish to speak, for once again the angel of death has wafted his wind o’er that sad home and choosing one of its fairest members has borne it gently away. The deceased, George B. Bills, was born June 3rd, 1862 and died April 16, 1889, aged 26 years and 10 months. He was married to Miss Mary Burkhart Dec. 20th, 1883, and to them were born two bright and interesting children. Mr. Bills united with the church March 10, 1889, under the teaching of J. F. Finley. Although late in life before he was made to realize the danger of being without Christ, yet during his short professional life, he was full of faith and his great desire was to serve his Master nobly and righteously.

The funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at Pisgah church in the presence of a large circle of relatives and friends who were anxious to attest their love and respect for the one thus sadly cut down upon the very threshold of manhood. Words seem powerless to express the sorrow of the dear family and friends so suddenly bereft of two of its loving members. Yet we should mourn not as those who have no hope, for our loss is their eternal gain. And the Golden Bowl is broken and they have gone to try the realities of the “Great Beyond.”

Their remains rest in the quietude of the family cemetery, but their souls with the God who gave them. E.P.
