Harrison Goding, born in 1832, in Piscataquis County Maine He enlisted for Civil War army service in Company H, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, at Elyria, Ohio(Lorain County) for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Marble Cutter. He is shown as a corporal in the Official Roster of Ohio Soldiers, Volume VII. He was wounded November 25, 1863 at the Battle of Armstrong's Hill, south of Knoxville, TN during the Siege of Knoxville. He died of wounds, November 30, 1863. The March 1, 1864 date of death on the headstone is incorrect.

His widow, Angeline Goding, applied for a widow's benefit, February 4, 1864. No state is shown.

He is shown in the Official Roster of Ohio Soldiers as buried in Section 7, Grave 41, Vol. VII, p.768. The cemetery was reorganized so that he is now in Section A, Lot 827.

For years his original headstone, in the photo on the right, had his name spelled incorrectly and "W. H. Gooden," with the incorrect date of death, March 1, 1864. In 2015 the National Cemetery System replaced that headstone with one showing the correct spelling of his name and his correct date of death.
