Frankie O. Vann Matthews, 90, of Evergreen, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Mary's Private Healthcare Center in Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Hayman Cemetery in Coldspring. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Frankie was born June 11, 1918, in San Jacinto County, to parents; Tom F. and Sallie Lilly Vann, and has resided in the Evergreen area throughout her life. She was a graduate of the Coldspring High School class of 1934, a retired insurance company secretary, homemaker, member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, a former Democratic Party election judge, and enjoyed gardening.

Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents, husband: William P. Matthews, one brother, and five sisters. She is survived by her daughter: Gayle Carter and husband Coleman of Kenefick, grandchildren: Marshall Loyd Reed of Evergreen, Boyd Glenn Reed and wife Cindy of Baytown, and Matthew Carver and wife Teresa of Cypress, seven great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchidlren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
