Born 25th of August 1923 in Salt Lake City to Walter George Fisher and Mary Lee Fisher. He attended Madison Elementary School and Jr. High in South Salt Lake. Graduated from Granite High School in 1942. Graduated from University of Utah in Elementary Education and from BYU with a Masters Degree in Education. Attended Utah State University and Oregon State and received his Industrial Arts Certificate. He served in the US Marines for three and a half years in the Pacific Theater. He taught machine shop at West High school in the Salt Lake School District for 31 years. This was a high light in his life. He loved the boys he taught, and the fellow teachers. He was also over the stage, Sound and Light crew for all the productions at West High. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in many positions: Bishop of South Jordan 2nd Ward, member of High Council, member of Stake Sunday school. Served on the Priesthood Committee for Oakcrest LDS Girls Camp. He was also over building and maintenance for the camp. Dick was a man who could build or repair anything, starting with his own home.

He passed away on September 7, 2008 at CareSource Hospice in Millcreek Township, Utah.

He is survived by his wife, LaRoyce Fisher; children, Byron (Linda Jean), James (Debra), Linda (Kelly) Draney, Tamera (John) Tolman, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Caroline (Bob) Thomson, sister-in- law Wilma Fisher.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12th at 11:30 a.m. at the Jordan River 8th Ward Chapel, 1229 West 10775 South. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services on Friday at the Church.
Interment: South Jordan City Cemetery.
