Settled near Roxbury, Pennsylvania. He was buried near Shippensburg, Pennsylvania in Middle Spring Cemetery. His will was proved November 6, 1776. He married Margaret --- and she died in 1777 at the house of her son, Col. John Pomeroy. George and Margaret had nine children.

Note: Many sources erroneously conflate George Pomeroy/Pumery/Pumroy of Pennsylvania with George Holmes-Pomeroy of Pallas, County Cork, Ireland. DNA testing has proven that George Pomeroy's descendants have a Pomeroy y-DNA, not Holmes y-DNA, so George Pomeroy cannot be a Holmes-Pomeroy. Also, George Holmes-Pomeroy of Pallas, County Cork, died young in Ireland and never came to America.
