Soren C. Nelson, second son of John and Christine Nelson, was born at Hardy, Nebraska, January 31, 1894, and passed away at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior Saturday, December 27, 1980, at the age of 86 years.

He received Christian baptism as an adult.

March 8, 1917, he was united in marriage to Anna Petersen. They established their home on a farm south of Ruskin, where he resided until the past few years when his health failed.

To this union four daughters, Mrs. Orval (Florence) Bargen of Superior, Mrs. Eugene (Geraldine) Schultz of Ruskin, Mrs. Harlan (Doris) Bohling of Deshler and Mrs. Kenneth (Loetta) Pedersen of Hardy, were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; his parents; a brother, Marinus; and an infant sister.

Mr. Nelson was a kind and loving husband and father, devoted to his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was respected in the community as a successful farmer, a member of District 91 school board for many years and instrumental in the chartering of the Hardy State Bank of which he served as a director. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood in America.

Besides his four daughters, he is survived by a brother, Oliver; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at the Hardy Union Church, with Pastor Stephen Griffith officiating. Mrs. Douglas Alderman was organist. Mrs. Gary Bargen and Mrs. Kerry Witwer sang "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "In The Garden". Casket Bearers were the nine grandsons, Gary, Dennis and Robert Bargen, Bruce, Gordon, Douglas and Mark Alderman, Howard Schultz and Ken Pedersen. Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin.
