Nell Griffith, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Bollinger County, daughter of James Truman and Clara Rita (VanGennip) Nall. She and Roy L. Griffith were married Nov. 12, 1955, in Advance, Mo.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and St. Vincent Women Council, a member of Cape Girardeau Genealogical Society, Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a Kentucky Colonel. She was the past president of Professional Women Business Organization. Griffith worked as a clerk in the U.S. Probation Office and did secretarial work for the Cape Girardeau Police Department in the detective division. She also worked at the Bulletin-Journal in the advertising department and did advertising and sales promotions for Sears.

She is survived by her husband of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Kathryn Ann Raines of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Scott D. Griffith of Kansas City and James L. Griffith of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mari R. Womack of California; two brothers, James T. Nall of Advance, Mo., and Joseph E. Nall of Scott City; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
