Gretje, or "Gertrude" as she was sometimes called was the daughter of Jan Albert Harms-Backer (aka Johann Harms Backer) and Sophia Caroline Janssen Backer Look. ( Eben Look was her second husband after the death of Johann)

Gretje married Siebelt Folkers about 1860.
They had twelve children:

Fanny, Folkert "Albert", Thomas, Anna Sophia, Sophia Mae, John Hermann, George Edward, Emma, Bertha, Louise M, Lilly A, and Minnie C Folkers.
