Leland S. Orr, 79, of Piper City, IL., died at 2:10 A. M., Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Greenbrier Nursing Center, Piper City, IL., from the effects of ALS - Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Leland was born to Clifford G. & Edna (Weber) Orr in Watseka, IL., on January 19, 1929.

He married Joanne Gerber on February 26, 1956 in Foosland, IL. She died on November 26, 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Leann Johnson (Dennis) of Goodfield, IL., Janet Orr of St. Joseph, IL., one son, Jeffery Orr of Piper City, three grandchildren, Lynne Johnson, Trent Johnson and Jill Page, and two sisters, Eileen Read of Piper City and Arla Ritter (Gene) of Medford, Oregon.
His parents, wife and brother, Kenneth preceded him in death.

Mr. Orr spent his childhood in the LaHogue, IL. area and graduated from Piper City High School in 1946. He worked in construction and farmed until his retirement in 2000.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Piper City, and an enlistee in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, serving one year in Korea with the 67th Reconnaissance Wing.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 2:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Piper City with the Rev. Elizabeth Reis officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Brenton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association/ALS of Champaign, United Methodist Church of Piper City or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
