MANSFIELD: Donald W. "Big Daddy" Stroud, age 54, of 7394 State Route 97, Mansfield, died Wednesday evening May 23, 2001, in the emergency room of MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He was born September 16, 1946 in Richmond, CA, to Travis Carlton and Rosa Turner Stroud and moved to the Mansfield area two years ago from Modesto, CA.
Donald was a US Navy veteran, proudly serving two tours of duty in Vietnam for which he received a citation for bravery.
He was employed as a Gasservice supervisor for Pacific Gas & Electric with 27 years of service.
Donald attended Abundant Life Tabernacle in Ontario. He joined his love for God with his love for motorcycles and served as Guardian for the Mid-Ohio Sons of God Motorcycle Club. He was also Past Master of Lodge #675 F&AM in Modesto, CA, and served as assistant chaplain for the prison ministry at San Quentin and Preston Boys Prison.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Patricia L. Argenbright, whom he married December 10, 1977; two daughters and a son Deanna L. Stroud of Reading, PA, and Christie L. & Steve Rogers of Ft. Wayne, IN, Christopher D. & Trina Stroud of Mansfield; five grandchildren Lisa Marie Stroud, Sean Patrick Kiernan, Kyle Gage Kiernan, Tre` Christopher Stroud and Devon Andrew Stroud; three brothers Tom Stroud and Sonny Stroud both of CA and Herman Stephan of AZ; and a sister Arlene Dement of AZ.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. A graveside service will be held Tuesday May 29, 2001 at 1 pm in the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Pastor Robert Yanok will officiate.
